Draft/ Final evaluation of film poster.

1. How have you used the conventions of existing film posters in your draft design?

I interpreted the idea from the 5 star Japanese horror film ‘The ring’. This gave me the idea to contrast that poster into another changing the background colour and the main front character. I used a black background to give an effective imaginative thing to make the audience feel scared and pulling them to watch the film. I also used the black background to show my main character on the front of the film poster to look like she is walking out of the darkness which will create a horror fantasy imagination which will put an effect onto the audience. I made the title and tagline red to make it stand out and create an idea into the audience that the film and main character is involving blood and despair.

2. How does your film poster satisfy the action/ fantasy/ teen genre requirements?

My film poster satisfies teenagers between 15+ years as the film is based on horror and involves violence and gore which would be suitable for these teenagers between these years.

3. How successful do you think your draft is? Give reasons for your answer.

I feel that my draft is successful as I came out with 1 different interpretations of the poster by only using two different images from my choices. Also I feel that I did pretty well with the colour scheme of it all, I placed things carefully in certain areas of the poster, for example: the movie production company’s logos were deliberately placed in the bottom right hand corner because that's where they are commonly seen in real movie posters. Also I feel that I came out with very successful images that show the character as a true vampire that would be seen in a real movie with proper editing done to the face and body. I also made sure to include very important features like the date of when the film actually comes out, who is in the film (important actors/actresses), who is the director of the film etc.

4. What do you think you will need to change for your final piece of work?

In my final piece of work of my film poster is that maybe I should have made the text font bigger and maybe space the actors, actresses and director’s names apart. I could have used more of an effective on the background colour by making the main character and the background transparent together to contrasts to create a cool illusion theme.

5. What skills have you learned in the design process?

I have learned how to create a normal picture of school girl into a mystical horror theme in which creates tension for the audience of creating the unknown. I have also learned how to transparent pictures to overlay the poster and fit them into certain sections of the poster.
